Holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Nigeria, an MRes degree in Medical Mycology and Fungal Immunology from the University of Aberdeen and a PhD degree in Infection, Immunity and Respiratory Medicine from the University of Manchester, both in the UK.
Joy is very passionate and aspires to steer the status quo of infectious disease research, management and prevention in Nigeria and Africa at large to an internationally-acceptable and significant level. A perfect blend of her expertise in pharmacy, basic and advance research as well as medical sciences positions her as one of the best to actualise such dreams.
She is a member of Trustees that recently launched an NGO body of foreign and home trained mycologists and infectious disease clinicians residing in Nigeria Medical Mycology Society of Nigeria, MMSN, to facilitate local and international collaboration and funding.
She recently relocated to Nigeria and is currently lecturing and mentoring Undergraduates both as a lecturer in NAU and Adjunct staff of Chukwuaemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU).
